Popularly, as per Vaastu, the West facing houses are considered after the North and East directions. But it’s a good to go with Houses that facing west also. Though, North and East facing houses are treated best to live in.
Buying a house could be irresistible experience. As everyone wants fulfill the house requires to meet the Vaastu rules as specified in the Vaastu-shastra.
It’s a miss-belief that, the house facing West is not good, which could invite troubles to the inmates. But it’s not true, in fact, such house is also auspicious as of North or East facing houses, provided they are built according to Vaastu rules.
Vastu Shastra does not claims that North facing house is good and West is bad. In fact, Vaastu Shastra, says all the directions are equally good to orientation of a house. However, things that makes or breaks Vaastu rules for a house is the location of main entrance and elemental placement in the house.

Vaastu Tips for West Facing House
The main entrance of the house plays a massive role in Such house also.
- As per Vaastu locate main door in any of the four Padas i.e. 3rd, 4th, 5th or 6th on the West side. (As shown in the Image above)
- Place the Main door in Pada 1 and 2 (only if there is no option to use 3, 4, 5 and 6 Pada).
- The entrance in 1 and 2 Pada treated as neutral and may not gives either good or bad results
- Padas 7, 8 and 9 are not auspicious for Main entrance door (Which comes in West of Southwest).
Deciding main entrance is the primary thing in this case, for other elements Vastu Shastra rules will remain same as it for East facing houses!

What to Avoid
- Avoid main entrance in 7th, 8th and 9th Pada of West side.
- Never locate a bore-well or water sump in Southwest of the house.
- Avoid buying a House, Flat, Plot which having extension or Cut in South or Southwest direction.
- Do not construct a kitchen in Southwest part in West facing houses
What to Follow
- Locate the Main entrance in 3rd, 4th, 5th or 6th Pada in West direction.
- You can also use 1st and 2nd Pada if interested.
- The West and South walls must be thicker and little higher than East and North.
- Construct a kitchen in Southeast or Northwest part of the house.
- Master bedroom in Southwest is better, if the house is multi story then locate the master bedroom on the uppermost floor.
- Construct living room and Pooja room in Northeast part for House facing West
- A guest room can be in Northwest.
