Common Vaastu myths may not impact on the residents without knowing their proper influence on the human being. Everything from colours to photos on wall if not properly according to Vaastu can adversely impact on life of inmates.

Vaastu shastra is the ancient science of positive arrangements in the house. Making changes is not an easy task to identify the Vastu defects and do the changes in the house according to Vaastu-shastra.

Here are some of the common myths that uncovered.

Vaastu Myth 1: Complete no to Northeast Toilet.

Fact: In the ancient days, when Vaastu-Shastra was invented, the toilets were not the integral part of the house, and not technologically innovative as they are today. Even the faecal waste was not discarded as such it is now.

So, this rule was applicable in older days. In present days, toilets are so hygienic. By just making some changes like adding colours, mirrors, and “Ratnadhyaya therapy” we can fix this situation as well.

Vaastu Myth 2: Triangular plots are inauspicious.

Fact: Every defect in Vaastu including irregular in shape can be fixed. A triangular plot can be made auspicious using some remedies including “Ratndhyaya Therapy”. So do not scary about such situations.

Vaastu Myth 3: Older person should use Southwest room (Master bedroom)

Fact: Generally master bedroom is located in the Southwest direction of the house, which is also seat of leadership.

The practical head (High income earner) of the family, who may or may not be the senior-most member of the family, should use the master bedroom.

Father if retired, should give-up the Southwest master bedroom to the eldest Son or Daughter as he/she would then make a successful functional head of the family.

The father, as a retired person, should move to a Northeast bedroom which lead him towards religiousness.

Vaastu Myth 4: Paint a common color on the walls of Living Room, Master Bedroom and Children’s Rooms.

Fact: Like everything the direction or placements of the rooms are outmost importance while choosing a colour.

Due to lack of the basic understanding about how to detect the direction of any room, which is vital and preliminary step in Vaastu. People generally assume the entrance is facing Northeast or is facing out to Southwest.

This is not correct. The accurate measurement or detect the direction with placing the compass in the middle of the house.

This is irrespective of the person’s facing. From the middle of the house, detect the eight primary directions.

The direction and color preference for the rooms can be:

North or Northeast: Light green or light blue
Northwest: Creams, Grey, White
East: Green or White.

For master bedroom can be:
Southwest: Peach preferably, you can also use Pink, Purple and grey.
South: Exclusively red

Southeast: Light Orange, Gray
West: Silver, Light blue

The color preference for the children’s room can be:
Northwest: Blue (Light Shades)

Vaastu Myth 5: There should not be Mirrors Opposite to Bed

Fact: Place a mirror in the bedroom in such a way that any of your body part should not reflect in the mirror while sleeping on the bed. It means any direction from where the body is reflected, should be avoided for placing the mirror.

Never use the mirrors as a Vaastu dosh remedy for any Vaastu defects as it is an extremely complex and controversial procedure.

Vaastu Myth 6: Placing “Ganesh” Idol in the house is Auspicious.

Fact: Lord Ganesha is a admired deity and people worship this deity across the world. To ward-off obstacles and for auspicious beginnings, it is a practice to place a Ganesha idol in the house.

However, look for direction of trunk of Lord Ganesha idol. Ganesha with trunk towards left is widely worshipped in the Northern part of the India while trunk towards right is seen especially in the South India.

While placing an idol at home:

Ganesha with trunk towards left will bring peace and prosperity.

Whereas Ganesha with trunk pointing towards right is called the Siddhi Ganesha, the giver of high spirituality. This idol requires very strict norms and rituals to be followed if placed in the house.

In the normal household with a materialistic lifestyle, the Ganesha with left turned trunk is to be worshipped instead of the right trunk.

Vastu Myth 7: Place a Mythological or Nature-Inspired Images Anywhere in the House.

Fact: As per Vaastu, any images showing violence, tragedy, or cruelty should never be placed in the house. Avoid even, images of War from Mahabharata.  But you can place an image of Arjuna bowing to Lord Krishna while listening the “BhagwadGita”.

However, there are some direction-specific images which we can use to enhance positive energy in the Vaastu of any room.

For example, use water-based photos in the Northeast area of the house and fire related images in the Southeast direction.

Photos of heaviness like elephants or mountains can be placed in the Southwest direction.

This is how myths are clarified in principle.

Accurate, or the science of positive energy in the house remains a complex and dynamic one, so it is advised to take a proper guidance from Vaastu-expert.
